Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Treatment in Various Patients With Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Kim Sei-Won
Abstract
In this special issue, we present a series of reviews of positive airway pressure therapy in a variety of obstructive sleep apnea patient populations. First, we describe the clinical characteristics of the increasingly common geriatric obstructive sleep apnea population and present effective strategies for positive airway pressure therapy. Second, we will discuss the characteristics and use of positive airway pressure in obstructive sleep apnea patients with coexisting respiratory airway disease, including chronic obstructive pul¡þmonary disease (COPD). Finally, an overview of positive airway pressure therapy in children will be presented to provide a better understanding of the pediatric obstructive sleep apnea population.
